IAPP Treasurer Chris Zoladz Explains "Why Your Company Needs a Chief Privacy Officer"

Network World magazine recently published an article titled, "Why Your Company Needs a Chief Privacy Officer." The article profiles IAPP Treasurer Chris Zoladz, CIPP, who spoke to security professionals at The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium's 2007 SecureAmericas conference.

A former security professional, Zoladz explained why companies need a privacy professional to complement their security professional. Zoladz, Vice President, Information Protection & Privacy, Marriott International, stressed that "good privacy is good business." Zoladz described the role of privacy pros as custodians of a company's information. Privacy pros, he said, make sure the data is used responsibly and spend the majority of their time responding to incidents, drafting policies and advising their businesses.

The article, which includes mentions of the IAPP and references the CIPP certification exam, also appeared on CSO Online. Access the full story at www.networkworld.com/news/2007/052207-privacy-officer-complements-ciso.html.
