Google's Sergey Brin said the company he co-founded "screwed up" when it collected personal data sent over wireless networks through its Street View vehicles and would be putting "more internal controls in place to prevent such data captures in the future," The Wall Street Journal reports. CEO Eric Schmidt also admitted the company had made privacy mistakes, but said the incident is a case of "No harm, no foul" where a "relatively small" amount of unauthorized information was collected. Meanwhile, a federal class action lawsuit has been filed in the U.S. accusing Google of violating privacy by gathering the information, and data protection officials and advocacy groups across the globe are calling for investigations into Google's practices.
