"Joseph Turow, a professor of communications at the University of Pennsylvania and an expert in online privacy, thinks Internet users are woefully unaware of what information is being collected about them and how marketers are using that data," Cecilia Kang writes in the introduction to her Q&A with Turow for The Washington Post. In response to questions about tracking consumers online, Turow says that while he doesn't have an "intrinsic problem" with ad targeting, he is concerned "that this is going on behind the scenes and people don't have a clue as to the consequences.
