When it comes to controlling personal information online, the best option Internet users have lies in that old adage, "if you can't beat them, join them." That's according to MIT Prof. Sandy Pentland, whose work has focused on finding a data collection approach that works for organizations, advocates and regulators, The Wall Street Journal reports. Pentland suggests an approach where consumers manage their data and receive compensation for making it available.
