Though the FTC has urged browsers to refrain from such analytics, Epic Marketplace deploys software that reads millions of users' Web browsing histories each month, the report states, collecting information such as who may be reading pages on fertility or the IRS. Such sniffing is possible via a browser loophole, which many browsers recently repaired before releasing its latest version, that changes a browser link's color if the user has visited a website before. "Epic's reliance on history sniffing is likely to result in lawsuits," the report states, "And the FTC may decide it wants to take a close look..."
