A class-action lawsuit has been filed against Best Buy Corporation on allegations that it violates the Drivers' Privacy Protection Act (DPPA). The law firm Leopold Kuvin PA filed the suit in the Southern District Court of Florida on Tuesday. The firm says that Best Buy's practice of collecting and retaining data from the driver's licenses of customers who return items is not a "normal course of business" use and therefore violates the DPPA. "This class action seeks injunctive relief against Best Buy to immediately cease an invasive business practice," said the suit's lead counsel, Gregory Weiss.
