In a column for The New York Times, Henry Alford questions, "when did privacy become a choice rather than a given?" Alford also queries why it sometimes feels like a graduate degree is necessary to slog "through a new app's voluminous terms of service" or to figure out "how to activate a site's privacy control settings." Though the Obama administration is calling for a privacy bill of rights, "Big Brother-like invasions of our privacy continue apace," he opines, adding, "You can't sunbathe nude in this backyard without constantly looking over your shoulder."
