The Telegram reports the Access to Information Review Committee “has completed its work and submitted a report to government with 90 recommendations to improve” the information access system in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL). “The review, led by former Premier Clyde Wells, retired journalist Doug Letto and former Privacy Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart, has been studying the province’s access to information system for nearly a year,” the report states. NL Premier Paul Davis has said he will accept the recommendations and “revamped legislation drafted by the committee to be introduced this spring.” When the report was released, NL Information and Privacy Commissioner Ed Ring said, “I’m ecstatic about it.” Meanwhile, changes are being urged for Ontario’s law on access to hospital information.
