After the fallout from the now-infamous celebrity nude photo hack and subsequent leak, Apple published a response that its iCloud service was not hacked but did confirm individual accounts were, San Jose Mercury News reports. Apple has said, “we have discovered that certain celebrity accounts were compromised by a very targeted attack on user names, passwords and security questions, a practice that has become all too common on the Internet.” Mashable reports the hackers involved have likely violated the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and possibly the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, child pornography and revenge porn laws. According to The Wrap, actress Eva Longoria claims Apple employees violated her privacy by contacting her directly. Perez Hilton, who has made a career out of posting celebrity photos, apologized for doing so in a YouTube video.
