In conjunction with the first IAPP Asia Privacy Forum and following the recent release of the free AvePoint Privacy Impact Assessment (APIA) tool in the IAPP’s Resource Center, the IAPP and AvePoint have worked together to create APIA templates for different regulatory environments, beginning with Singapore. Using PIA guidance in Singapore’s new Personal Data Protection Act, coming into full effect on July 2, the template makes assessments in the APIA tool straightforward for businesses operating in Singapore. “You have to be able to demonstrate that you have a process,” AvePoint’s Dana Simberkoff, CIPP/US, told The Privacy Advisor, “so the APIA tool allows you to demonstrate that you’re going through the process and that you can document that process.”
