Following the release of its experimental browser last year, Russia’s Yandex has added a suite of new privacy-centric features, TechCrunch reports. The company has switched the software from an alpha to a beta version and has made it the default for international users. In Russia, the browser will remain the experimental alternative to its older browser, but in international markets, users will have the option of private browsing—in part so the company can compete with Google, according to a Yandex spokesperson. Following the alpha release, increased privacy was one of the most requested improvements from users, especially those in Germany, Canada and the U.S.
