With the Personal Data Protection Act to come into effect in July, bringing with it breach fines of up to $1 million, ZD Net reports on concerns from chief information officers (CIOs) about cloud security. In Singapore, 65 percent of CIOs “believe security risks are the biggest problem with cloud technology—a concern shared by 57 percent of CIOs polled in Asia-Pacific,” the report states, citing a survey of more than 400 CIOs in Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong and Japan. The second greatest concern cited was the legal implication of privacy breaches involving customer data stored in the cloud. CIOs cited issues with cross-border data transfers as the third biggest concern they have with the cloud, the report states.
