Newly appointed EU Justice Commissioner Martine Reicherts expressed strong words Monday for clearing up the right-to-be-forgotten debate and adopting strong data protection reform soon, according to a Europa press release. She said detractors of EU data protection reform “are trying to use the recent ruling by the European Court of Justice on the right to be forgotten to undermine our reform,” adding, “They have got it wrong.” She also said she would not let such detractors “stop us from opening the digital single market for our companies and putting in place strong protection for our citizens.”
