Many law firms that don’t envision themselves being at risk for data breaches have not purchased cyber-insurance, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports, noting attorneys who work in data security are cautioning this is as mistake as breaches are a matter of “if, not when.” Kelley Drye & Warren CIO Judi Flournoy, who is also head of the International Legal Technology Association security initiative LegalSEC, commented on discussions about cyber-insurance, noting, “I don’t know what the outcome will be … Even though cyber-insurance has been around for a while, no one has ever really felt the pain.” The report includes insights from lawyers at a variety of firms.
