The Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA) has been granted authority to fine controllers and processors, reports Jeroen Terstegge, CIPP/US, in this Global Privacy Dispatch (GPD) for The Privacy Advisor. The fine may be as high as 810,000 euros. Meanwhile, a separate GPD, Flemming Moos discusses the enforcement action against Debeka, where the DPA of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany imposed a record fine of 1.3 million euros on the insurance giant, and what this incident can teach businesses about data protection management.
