Richard Allan, Facebook’s head of policy in Europe, has warned EU privacy regulators they are endangering business in the EU, The Wall Street Journal reports. Allan suggested that a series of recent privacy investigations could fragment Europe’s regulatory landscape. “Facebook’s costs would increase, and people in Europe would notice new features arriving more slowly or not at all,” Allan wrote. Meanwhile, the European Commission will host meetings between technology companies—including Facebook, Twitter and Google—and law enforcement agencies to discuss concerns that encryption technologies are helping terrorists and criminals.
