The Harlem Globetrotters basketball team will change its method of collecting information from newsletter subscribers, according to a Better Business Bureau (BBB) unit. The basketball exhibition team’s website invites visitors to subscribe to an email newsletter by entering their names, email addresses and ZIP codes, MediaPost reports. In a section for kids’ games, subscribers were required to check a box stating, “You are 13 or older.” But the BBB’s Children’s Advertising Review Unit said that procedure didn’t comply with children’s privacy guidelines, which require operators of sites directed at children to conduct age-screen in a “neutral” way, the report states.
