Attendees had positive reports out of last week’s meeting of some 20 advertising-industry representatives with the White House’s John Podesta on Big Data and privacy. "It was the best experience you could have with government," said Dick O'Brien of the 4As. "It was clear they knew the importance of the digital economy. I got the impression they were there to help." During the meeting, Podesta and staff asked questions of the reps on how data is collected, analyzed, used and about the industry’s self-regulatory efforts. President Barack Obama has charged Podesta with looking closely at Big Data’s merits and pitfalls over the next 90 days.
