Next week at this time, we will be closing in on the last general session of the IAPP Canada Privacy Symposium in Toronto.

The conference comes together every year because of a lot of hard work from certain IAPP members who put up their hand, step up and volunteer their time to be conference chairs. These folks are chosen from the Canadian Advisory Board and they begin their heavy lifting in the fall, after hundreds of speaking proposals arrive.  They sift through all of them in the hopes to lay the foundation for a great program.

Once speakers are chosen, the chairs work with the presenters to refine the presentations, to make sure the content hits the right level of expertise for the intended audience. At this point, pretty much all the "i"s are dotted and the "t"s are crossed. Everyone is ready for a fantastic few days of privacy education.

I marvel at the time and energy these volunteers put into it. And I'm honoured they work so hard to bring you the best conference experience ever.

I'll be delivering CIPP training starting on Tuesday next week. On Wednesday night, there's the sure-bet five-minute mixer to take part in—always a big hit, and not just for newbies. Thursday launches the full program with our outstanding keynotes in the morning. Of course, on Thursday evening, we have our gala at the Hockey Hall of Fame —the privacy social event of the season!

It will be the biggest Symposium ever, with lots of energy, fun times and solid learning. In my experience, it's one of the friendliest conferences, too—a great networking opportunity for any Canadian privacy professional. On that note, if you do make it to the conference, I hope you'll take the time to meet new colleagues, and please do take a moment to say hi to me too!

See you there!
