We are putting the final touches to IAPP Europe’s flagship event, the Data Protection Congress, which will be back to Brussels on 19 and 20 November, but as early as next month we will also start working on our London event, the Data Protection Intensive. First of all, mark your diaries: The Intensive is on 15 and 16 April, 2015.

We will open a call for proposals for the Intensive in early September before kicking off the internal programming process with the crucial support of our European Advisory Board. Before even opening the call for proposals, we will ask members of our European Advisory Board to share with us the top privacy issues they would like to ultimately see on the Intensive programme. Of course, some things will be different in 2015 (think about how the 31 May Google ruling of the Court of Justice of the EU changed the privacy landscape almost overnight this year), and, who knows, now that some major negotiating hurdles have been overcome, we may even have a General Data Protection Regulation by next April. But if there are any big issues, big themes that you think will dominate the data protection scene in the next year or so, I’d like to hear your thoughts.

As we grow our membership in Europe—just this week we celebrate exceeding 2,000 European members!—I want to make sure I involve as many of you as possible, so do email me in the next week or so with the top data protection issues that are keeping you busy right now and which you think will accompany you in the year ahead.
