While a few years ago “Internet privacy lawsuits were getting filed left and right … that stream appears to have dried up,” according to a report in The Recorder. In the Northern District of California, in cases where Apple, Google or Facebook were named as defendants, there were 29 lawsuits filed in 2010, 20 in 2011 and 30 in 2013. But in 2014, only four such suits were filed and in 2015, only one so far, Ars Technica reports. Meanwhile, a county judge in Pennsylvania has dismissed a class-action lawsuit against Pittsburgh-based UPMC over a 2014 data breach in which 27,000 employees’ tax information was stolen.
