After months of negotiations, Target is close to reaching a settlement with MasterCard for $20 million for costs incurred from the data breach that hit the company in 2013, The Wall Street Journal reports. The payout covers the costs to banks for reissuing credit cards in addition to some fraud stemming from exposed data. Meanwhile, Travelers Casualty and Surety has settled with a web design company after it accused the company of not properly maintaining the security of its website, allowing hackers to steal customer data in 2012. LinkedIn has objected in federal court to attorney fees in a settlement reached in a proposed class-action involving the leak of 6.5 million passwords. LinkedIn said the legal fees and incentive award add up to nearly one-third of the total settlement.
