This week, two broadband providers each sued to block the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from reclassifying broadband providers to be considered "common carriers," and therefore subject to the same FCC rules that regulate telecommunications companies. The suits exemplify a panicked reaction from stakeholders who use customer data to generate revenue, since that use of information will now be regulated in new ways.
