Forbes has compiled a roundup of recent breaches, including a hacking scheme where “more than half of South Korea’s total population … may have had their personal information stolen.” The breach involved 27 million people and 220 million records, and 16 hackers have been arrested, the report states. In the U.S., hackers have breached Huntington Bancshare's wellness program in Ohio, The Columbus Dispatch reports, and in Maryland, ABC 7 reports, officials are investigating concerns personal information gathered for discounted bus cards may not be secure. KrebsonSecurity reports, “Sources in the financial industry say they’re seeing signs that Dairy Queen (DQ) may be the latest retail chain to be victimized by cyber-crooks,” noting while DQ headquarters has no indication of a breach, “the company also acknowledges … there is no established company process or requirement that franchisees communicate security issues or card breaches to Dairy Queen headquarters.” Meanwhile, Government Technology reports on a Ponemon Institute study indicating data breach risks in the cloud are "multiplying" and becoming more expensive.
