Certification Foundation

You’ll need to pass two exams to become certified. The Certification Foundation is the first step toward any IAPP certification. By passing both the Certification Foundation exam and a designation exam (CIPP, CIPM or CIPT), you’ll prove that you’re part of an elite group of pros who really know their stuff.

Certification Foundation covers the elementary, global concepts of privacy and data protection that anyone who works with data needs to know:

  • Common principals and approaches to privacy
  • Jurisdictions and industries
  • Information security
  • Online privacy

If you’re already IAPP-certified and looking to add another credential to your name, you don’t need to retake the Certification Foundation. Lucky you!
