The UK's fourth largest building society has apologised to its customers in the wake a January data breach involving thousands of its accountholders, the Financial Times reports. Skipton Building Society has said that a third-party printing error led to the breach, where 3,115 passbook account customers had personal information printed on the back of other customers' statements. "We have written to those affected to apologise and to reassure them that the correspondence contained insufficient information to enable any unauthorised transactions on their accounts," says Stacey Dickens, a Skipton spokeswoman. "We are also offering to change the account numbers of any customers seeking additional peace of mind."
