In Newfoundland and Labrador, a mailing error has led to a breach, and a fax error sent patient lab results to a business owner rather than to doctors. In Alberta, Calgary police had notebooks stolen from an off-duty vehicle and are now “notifying up to 400 people that their privacy may have been breached,” Calgary Herald reports. And The Star reports on concerns in Ontario that the regulator for Ontario nurses “does not automatically alert police or Ontario’s privacy commissioner when it becomes aware of cases where nurses may have snooped into patient files.” Meanwhile, the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada has published the second edition of The Canadian Privacy and Data Security Toolkit.
