Lawmakers are increasing their scrutiny of computer security at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) after a data breach that affected at least 100,000, The Wall Street Journal reports. Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) on Wednesday asked for a briefing from the IRS on the breach. The Senate Finance Committee said Wednesday it will hold a hearing on the breach next week. “Taxpayers deserve to know what happened at the IRS … and this hearing will be the first step of many that the committee takes to determine what happened and how the government can prevent such attacks from happening again," Hatch said.
