The Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) internal watchdog believes the organization’s move to hire an additional four senior IT managers is "a potential boondoggle,” NextGov reports. Assistant Inspector General Michael Esser testified at a congressional hearing last month that the agency has not estimated the total time or money required for such an undertaking. While OPM estimates the project to cost $94 million, Esser said that doesn’t include the expense of transitioning over existing applications, the report states. The new hires would be responsible for migrating the agency’s decades-old computer systems to a new network.
