The Department of Homeland Security has published its privacy and civil liberties assessment report, which follows President Barack Obama’s Executive Order in February 2013 to improve critical infrastructure cybersecurity and requires senior officials for privacy and civil liberties to incorporate privacy and civil liberties protection into all activities performed under the executive order. The report looks at various governmental departments, including the Department of Justice, Department of Defense and Department of Commerce. Meanwhile, in an interview for Federal News Radio, National Security Agency Office of Civil Liberties and Privacy Director Rebecca Richards, CIPP/G, CIPP/US, discusses her mission to implement effective safeguards.
