With increased calls for Privacy by Design and the need to build privacy-preserving code into technologies, building a bridge between policy and coding can be a difficult endeavor, but, writes HERE Privacy Officer Ian Oliver, “We cannot keep addressing privacy from a top-down, legally driven perspective.” Software and application development is hugely complex, he notes, and coding for terms such as “reasonable” often do not make sense to technologists.
