Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Diane Feinstein (D-CA) has been called a hypocrite by privacy advocates after she expressed harsh words aimed at the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), accusing the agency of secretly taking classified documents from her staff’s computers, CNN reports. Since the Snowden disclosures started streaming out last June, Feinstein has been a staunch supporter of intelligence agency surveillance. Center for Democracy & Technology Senior Counsel Gregory Nojeim said, “It’s highly significant that a senator with Senator Feinstein’s credentials in working with the intelligence community would go to the Senate floor and make a constitutionally protected speech about how the CIA is undermining a critical oversight role.”
