One university’s effort to raise awareness about sexual assault overlooked an important component: privacy. Jedidiah Bracy, CIPP/US, CIPP/E, writes for Privacy Perspectives about Clemson University’s online training class for students, which “asked incredibly invasive and personal questions” and, despite promising privacy, required students use their college ID numbers to sign in. While Clemson heard its students’ outrage and suspended the training course, Bracy notes the answer might not be as simple for other organizations.
